Lessons from My First-Time Mom Experience: Trusting Your Instincts

When you see your newborn baby for the first time, it feels like an angel has come down from heaven. But for a new mom, it’s often overwhelming because you’re not quite sure what to do with this new little person. I felt the same way and still struggle with it.

My advice is to trust your instincts. If you feel that something is off with your baby, your intuition is usually right. And if you think you know what your baby wants, you’re probably correct. Of course, your instincts might be wrong sometimes, but have confidence! No one knows your baby better than you do. Taking care of a baby is incredibly hard and exhausting, so you need plenty of energy. Make sure to rest during the baby’s nap times, and try to set up a daily routine that allows you to get enough rest while still managing childcare. You’re not a superhero. If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to ask for help from close family or friends. Even small tasks like holding the baby or picking up food can be a big help. Remember, you can’t do it all on your own.

Lastly, focus on your baby. Your baby needs you right now, and they can’t thrive without you. Don’t worry about your old routine or household chores. It’s okay if there’s dust or dishes piling up. The most important thing is to minimize your stress while taking care of your baby. Being a new mom is challenging, unfamiliar, and sometimes tearful, but try to enjoy these precious moments with your baby. It’ll pass faster than you think, and you won’t get this time back.
